@Ahsoothe: Thanks. It didn't come out as painterly looking as I wanted, but I guess it's a start.

That last portrait is beautiful, I love the way you did the black tones, the background textures and the overall feeling of the piece.

Thanks Val', glad you like it :D.

It's been awhile since I've painted without a line sketch, thought I'd give it another go:

Turned her into an elf at the last second so I can pretend I actually have ideas for paintings :P.

Thanks guyyyssss. And yeah sang', I'm trying to get better at grouping my light and shadow in color. I can do it no problem in black and white, but it's still taking awhile to wrap my head around it in color. Although, it actually makes painting a bit faster 'cause you don't have to use a different local color for every little thing when you do.

I don't know how long I took on this, but I'm pretty sure it's the longest I've spent on a painting so far:

Oh dang, I though that might happen. I actually did think to myself "You know, I wonder if it's actually not sad, and I'm interpreting it to be sad because that's what I want it to be..." lol

She is smiling a little. I feel she is thinking of a loved one.

Nice work! This type of clean art take time. No way around it.

Nice work Ambi!
I want to say something, if I may... Maybe the couch should bend a little bit on her ass. I think this will give the character a more "comfy" look. :)

The overall mood is nice, with how she's hunched over with a warm cup of drank. But again, the best part? That plaid is ON LOCK.

Love the elf, the gems on her necklace and earring are beautiful and I like how they contrast with their cool color against the warmth of her skin. The ear is pretty well done too =).
And I have to agree with Sanguine, the way you did the pattern on that last piece is mindblowing, you seem to handle that very well.
