Subject title: Wyntry's Sketchthread

Well, I have been focusing a little too much on fanart....for the last few months. It was the only way I would get the chance to draw...eh... That's an excuse...
Anyway, I have been watching youtube videos and buying books, and doing everything in my power when I am not at work or watching the kids or cleaning up after them... *le sigh* to learn more.
So... here is my random...stuff.
Like I said...mostly fanart.

I still have a lot to learn when it comes to digital coloring...and I am working on my foundation..not to mention cleaner, more precise lines. Oh... here is some older stuff when I focused a little too much on....well, everything.

(Photomanipulation was a major thing I messed with...but I am just showing what I drew and then colored.)

And technically, this was a photo-manip...but I lost all the sources...so I don't really show it too much.

Gah... that hurt my pride a little.
Well, I am sure there will be more of that happening sooner than later. Lol.
If you have any advice...or if you want to do some collaboration...or whatnot....I can even get a skype. :D
Just let me know.
my deviantart...is the same as my name. Lol.

Fan art its allways a good way to start drawing when you dont feel like it, there are other way's to learn, try to draw photo poses, in this site (http://artists.pixelovely.com/practice-tools/) you will have animals, faces, hands and full body, when i am learning i allways try to make a game out of it, one of the ways i study anatomy its by getting and image of the muscles in the body with the names then i copy that image exacly about 5 times within 2 days to get the names in my head for me learning the names of the muscles help me visualize them, and after that i go to a photo and make a game of drawing those same muscles on the photo i do that for a couple of photos and if i need help i go back to the drawing of the muscles, that will start to put the muscles and how they look in your head, i saw your ninja drawing on the deviant art its very cool! drawing its fun try to allways have fun drawing and draw what amuses you even if you have to learn the boring part of drawing (anatomy, prespective) try to make it fun by adding something you like, (for example making a anatomy study but applying it to a character you love) if you have fun you will learn faster, hope it helps! keep marking!

:ugeek: Thanks, man. I'll start by submitting my Non fanart junk, that I have done now (or since then). Lol.
So, this is the raw and....ugh.

Self portrait with...cheap crayons.

Challenge to draw from a different place. I drew in my lap from my bed, watching the stepdaughter watch TV.

I joined a design a character group on deviantart where I make shapes into faces.

And then there is the rough around the edges stuff...that *le sigh* makes me cringe...

One of my main bad habits is a go to photoshop in hopes to filter out my mistakes. I guess I just need to embrace them as the path to a better artistic future?
Oh....and today's my birthday. :D

Happy birthday :)

And well photoshop is indeed a powerful tool, but you still need to be able to draw it and visualize it traditionally to use ps. It makes correcting mistakes easier but overall ps is not gonna make you an awesome artist, only pracitce does :P.

Lol. Thanks.
Yeah. I hate on my stuff pretty bad. I guess its just cause artistically, ive had no real support or constructive help til recently.
I ordered sketchbook pro 6 and a small wacom tablet to stay away from ps til I get better. Takes the temptation away so I focus less on fancy tools and more on skill.

If you're looking for a starting point, maybe learn about different ways artists lay out proportions and start trying to do gestures. That's something that you can do that will hopefully boost your confidence too. It's also a chance to experiment with different media. No reason you have to always use pencil. You could do gestures with pen, marker, paint, whatever. And remember. That kind of work is about learning, not about making an appealing looking finished product, so don't worry too much about how 'good' they are, especially not at first.

Hahaha it's no problem, you have alot of progress going on :)
With this image http://th08.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/i/2 ... 7efzpr.jpg
What tutorial did you use? The proportions still seem off for me, even if you were going for a manga style.
If you want manga, maybe check out mark crilley? But seeing how manga artists have stylized real proportions is the key to understanding how to draw in that style (or any style really)

Thanks, guys! I am using a wacom pen and touch small tablet... but it keeps lagging and glitching while i use it... like i have to wait for it to catch up with what i want to do...so...its like stroke....ok, it just painted something i touched on the tablet 5-15 seconds ago.
I shrunk the size of the canvas from 4000 x 4000 to 1000 x 1000 and it helped a little, but not by too much. :?

I'm slowly getting figure and gesture, with a slight smidge of anatomy, getting ready to do landscapes and perspective soon. Id like to do backgrounds with more substance. Lol.
