Subject title: [NSFW-ish idk man] Xiphors Sketches

******ATTENTION*******
OK, so....like 4th try.... There is quite the story here. So I've already made this post on a different account by the user of Stark O'Connor but for some reason that account got deleted after i accidentally logged out of it. Even after i contacted support they said the account didnt exist, so i was advised to make a new account, so i did. And well, that was the second try XD. But it got declined by a spambot and i was messaged to redo the post to have it approved and that was a while ago, made a new post and well, apparantly that one was never made. SO HERE WE ARE. PERSEVERANCE WOO. Hopefully its gonna work this time... we shall see <.<

Anyway below is the original post!
******ATTENTION*******

Alright...so I've actually been looking through peoples sketchbooks on here and...well...damn...Like seriously it is soooo awesome to see the transformation people have and how they improve over time. Also the feedback and great community here. Never really done this before, like posted any drawings or things of mine online or on any forum so...excuse the maybe long periods of nothingness being uploaded before i get into the rhythm of uploading and stuff, and checking for comments. So yea.

I guess ill say a couple things about myself as an intro. I am a younger artist striving to go into the video game industry as a character/concept artist. I have been drawing...for about....4 years i think? So im still quite a beginner xD. I started off with drawing anime and manga type stuff but ive been trying to go a bit away from that and I do want to explore new styles and to of course create my own.
I also mostly do traditional drawings lately, but ive also done a bit of digital, but not much.

Also I want to apologize for the the images being so small, it seems one can only upload pictures that are 1000x1000 pixels and i work on a 3840x2160 canvas in Photoshop :/

SO HERE WE GO!!!

OLD STUFF- like...idk a couple months old XD
Spoiler: show
1.png
really old stuff

3.png
now bad gesture drawings, i think they were...5 mins each?

20160708_165752.jpg

20160708_165813.jpg
well all this stuff now is already kinda old, but meh

AND GOOD JOB M8 YOUVE MADE IT HERE!!! TO THE END OF THE FIRST POST!!!

Congrats you deserve an award since holy shit that was a lot of stuff XD
All feedback on anything is VERY appreciated and wanted xD so if you see any mistakes or have any suggestions go right ahead and tell me, I'd be glad and happy to hear them.

Anyway To do for next time: more witty titles and file comments!

Thank you xD I'm glad to see it has worked and its up here. I'm glad to be here.

So i guess i might as well do an update since ive done quite a bit of stuff since that post.

I'll probably post images independently once i dont have a backlog of stuff, so yeah sorry for a long post here :/

These are all traditional since idk... digital just hasnt been too appealing to me lately
20160722_144634.jpg
trying to use the bean bag as the torso to figure out how to twist and turn it easier

20160722_144653.jpg
same thing here but i tried it with just cubes

20160722_144745.jpg
ok so actually i took a break from drawing for like 2 or so days, so i was a bit rusty. These are scenes/moves from the Documentary This is It since i thought that the dance moves were really cool and wanted to see if i can draw their energy properly, dont think i did it justice but maybe ill try again in the future.

20160722_144806.jpg

20160722_144817.jpg
still rusty damn it

20160722_144834.jpg
getting back into it

20160722_144842.jpg

20160722_144854.jpg
Study from Burne Hogarth's Dynamic figure drawing book. I realised i am having trouble connecting the arms and torso properly so i studied this yesterday.

20160722_144901.jpg

20160722_144919.jpg
trying to simplify and understand hands. I still struggle with them a lot so i need to practice them a whole lot more.

20160722_144927.jpg
and then there were legs

Again, all feedback and suggestions are much appreciated and welcome!

Thank you Sanguine! i try to draw as much as I can each day since i want to improve as much as i possible can in the smallest amount of time! So there hopefully wont be a shortage of stuff to post XD

OK!

Update from the last like 2 days! So damn watched some stuff from Kim Jung Gi and holy shit....every time ive watched him draw my jaw drops. Like how the hell can someone do that so well and easily like him. But actually to me its very inspiring to know that its even possible to do what he does. I also attempted to watch a lesson he had on anatomy, of course i didnt understand a thing since it was in Korean but nonetheless i did learn something. Well kinda.

I think he tries to break down the shapes of the body and well anything into primitives he can easily see from any perspective or angle and then layers on the anatomy which is still crazy on its own to be able to do that so easily without actually drawing any frameworks or a sketch beforehand. Though i did try to do this myself......and well lets just say i was getting headaches XD like actually my head hurt after a while XD.

Anyway there are quite a couple photos/pages for me to show SO LETS GET TO IT!

Also I tried to not use much actual reference and do only imagination!

20160725_204955.jpg
just a bit of a warm up

20160725_205006.jpg
yeah i was trying to kinda just do the primitives that I talked about with Kim Jung Gi, didn't really succeed

20160725_205030.jpg
still trying to think of the primitives in space and then drawing the anatomy on top...

20160725_205047.jpg
yeah you can clearly see some failures here xD, especially the one in the middle xD

20160725_205100.jpg
these aren't the worst, but i wouldnt consider them great

20160725_205111.jpg
the bottom right person(well mostly knees/legs) turned out well and i like it

20160725_205124.jpg
another bad attempt at trying to draw a person without any underlying framework or sketch on the bottom left, I have to say they are actually quite fun to try since u have to really understand and know what u want to draw xD

20160725_223545.jpg
ok a bit of a better attempt at drawing without a sketch/framework on this one, though i messed up the arms real bad, they are much too short and the hands....yeah we got a bad case of baby hands XD, so i decided to practice hands a bit. For some of these i used my hand as a ref.

20160726_014440.jpg
didnt use my hand as reference for this page at all, just trying to better understand how mostly fingers bend and overlap and it was a bitch.

WHAT TIME IS IT
UPDATE TIME!
WHAT TIME IS IT
UPDATE TIME!

OK! So I've been slacking off really hard the last couple days....like major slacking. Only managed to get 5 pages done ;w;. But really its only myself i have to blame since its not like ive been particularly busy or anything, just distracted by shit. Also it was getting hard to think of things to draw when i did try to draw. But actually i did manage to draw each day anyway, so at least that wasnt a loss there. The pages arent anything to speak praise of, but there are like...2 or so good ones in there. I just hope that i start to get back into it quick and gain momentum again.

Nonetheless! Lets get to the actual drawings!

20160728_231355.jpg

20160728_231411.jpg
the guy at the top left is nice, not much else is notable

20160728_231421.jpg
finger breaking tutorial at the bottom left there, just in case anyone needed it xD

20160728_231434.jpg
tried drawing hair a bit, i need to try and draw hair from more perspectives...

20160728_231444.jpg
unfinished, but i felt the need to post something, maybe its gonna get me more into it again xD

Man maybe I should try and make daily updates? idk, id feel like im spamming....But idk it might be a good idea. Hmm.....................
OK, I NEED HELP!
if people could say if posting everyday would be fine, ill do it XD if not then i wont, i dont really wanna spam the forums xD Thank you!

It's good to see so many sketches! And in pen too, that's rare, I thought I was alone on that xD

And you're not spamming the forums, it's great to see so many people working so hard owo

Thank you! Yeah I like to draw in pen quite a lot since i feel it has some great benefits, such as not being able to furiously erase at every mistake XD also i like the way it feels in the hand.

Hmm, and alright...I feel like i need to give a name to this operation. Operation blue ink? idk XD But i guess ill try to update this daily then! Thank you Neso for the comment!

OPERATION BLUE INK UPDATE # 1

OK! So today was nice and productive though its not entirely because of me, i have to give credit to a great friend of mine Gabby for showing/playing a pretty cool figure drawing game which ill explain later xD

Today is more poses from imagination but there are also some from reference so its a good mix. I feel like i should do more studies from reference though as i can see a bit of a pattern with the poses/angles that i am drawing and i feel like i need to diversify them. I dont feel like im going outside my comfort zone enough is what i want to say. The first thing i guess being with drawing girls/women, I can see that i have problems drawing them and I need to do that more :/.

OK SO THIS IS THE GAME!!! So the game is that u pretty much do figure drawings like you normally would, but the time you take on each drawing is dictated by a different person. So you never actually know when u stop drawing and go to the next one. So some poses could be 30 secs, while others could go up to 10 mins and you keep adding details until the person says to switch to a new photo.

Nonetheless! ARE YOU READY TO SEE THE D-D-D-D-D-DRAWINGS!
20160729_205413.jpg
warm up, feel like im doing the same drawings a bit too much :/

20160729_205428.jpg
these are from reference and done in 1 min expect for the sad scribble boxed to the right

20160729_205448.jpg
2 things i kinda like on this page, the girl i drew at the bottom left and the girl in the top middle since i feel like i got a good expression on her, though the hair could have been done better

20160729_205459.jpg
First page from the game, i like the ninja and the jumping guy since i feel like i captured the energy quite well, the more finished one is alright xD

20160729_205512.jpg
ok....man the one at the top right is an utter failure xD First of all, i elongated the guys torso waay to much and also i drew too small, I wont even go into the foot......

20160729_205524.jpg
I like both of these, the guy at the bottom was incredibly muscular, like anatomy book muscular... He was even more muscular than how i drew him xD

OPERATION BLUE INK UPDATE # 2

So today was a bit busy, had guests and stuff so didnt get an amazing amount of time to draw like i usually do also felt a bit sluggish but I still got some practice in! Tomorrow will be even more busy since im going to a family members birthday party though i wouldnt want to skip a day of drawing so im probably just gonna bring the portable small sketchbook i have with me and update from that.

Today all except for one figure was drawn from imagination. Again all feedback is welcome!

warm up

20160730_234859.jpg
neck, legs and more arms

OPERATION BLUE INK UPDATE # 3

Alright, couldnt post yesterday the photos of the stuff i drew since i only had my phone. The drawings dont really have much purpose and were done on just downtime so yeah. The stuff i do today will most likely be posted later today!

So today i didnt get anywhere as much drawing done as I wanted to get done....as in...i didnt get even a page done....Man i got distracted a lot. But I did have a lot of fun i guess xD

I just got back into Minecraft after not playing it for like...idk....a year? This is mostly because a great friend of mine got the game to work on her computer and we wanted to play, so we did xD. We randomly got like....idk...8 wolves so yeah it was fun. For the actual drawing aspects of today...well yeah its not even anything worth posting. BUT IT IS ALL GOOD MY DEAR FRIENDS. I have got for you drawings for last year for you to look at and cringe with me when looking at them xD.

These are all from pretty much exactly a year ago give or take a month.

20160802_004755.png
tried to draw armour, used tons of refs for this since it was my third try at drawing armour

20160802_004845.png
also a recurring thing is that back then i didnt draw people from different angles, just front view so yeah it was bad

20160802_005026.png
this was the first try at drawing armour, no ref at all....man the cringe xD like look at the baby hands xD

20160802_005036.png
for this guy i didnt even try to draw in hands xD

20160802_004826.png
man i remember being so proud of the girl on the bottom left....

20160802_005102.png
when i first got some inking pens so i decided to draw and ink a character

Now stay tuned for the next, hopefully extended and extra large update tomorrow on Operation Blue Ink!

Nice amount of sketches man :) It's nice to see that you're using every scrap of paper to draw
I'd suggest you to keep an eye on the head size while drawing the full figure. I see that sometimes you draw it too small or too big.
Loomis's 8 head technique might come handy :)

Keep on drawing more stuff and you'll get better quickly :D
I like to draw girls. If you like girls too, you should check my Sketchbook ^^
There's stuff on my Twitter and Instagram too.
I do streams sometimes, mostly weekends on my Picarto channel.

You've definitely improved from a year ago! Cool stuff.

Your proportions need work here and there but it looks like your heading in the right direction. Out of curiosity how long are these taking you, do you do specifically 30 second or two minutes sketches or just go for it and see what comes out?
What are you doing? Stop browsing the forum and get drawing.

Just visit my sketchbook first:

Thank you and yeah I do try to use my paper well xD. Yeah i certainly need to practice and be more mindful of my proportions especially in terms of the head so yeah ill certainly go and look into that.

Thank you so much Peteman :D. Im glad to hear that I am. For how long they usually take...hmm... yeah Id kinda go and say that I just go for it and see what comes out especially in terms of time. For the poses I draw I try to picture what I want and then try to get it on paper. Of course the gesture drawings are timed. But if I were to say an average time i take per pose/ sketch....hmm....id say a min or 2? Maybe less.

OPERATION BLUE INK UPDATE # 4

So we got an update here, only got 3 pages done today. Did a lot of slower practice using reference so I didnt get as many done.

20160802_233822.png
Most of these are from imagination except for the one thats upside down

20160802_233834.png
these are all from reference, i do not know how much each took but most like about....3-5 mins?

20160802_233844.png
these are also from imagination except for the one at the top left.

OPERATION BLUE INK UPDATE # 5

A DAY SHAN'T BE MISSED! Alright so today I drew about 3 pages worth. got some alright stuff in there and I really want to start making my figures interact with each other...like maybe I should look into some dancing? I think that'd be cool to do.

I'm starting to feel a bit more confident in my hand drawing for the simple reason that I can picture and rotate the hand in my head easier. Though of course I still need a whole lot of improvement. I also really need to force myself to draw some female characters since I've noticed I have problems with that and im not comfortable drawing them. Near the end I also tried to use sycra's advice on drawing the planes of the head and found that it did make constructing the head easier so thank you Sycra!

All of the drawings today are from imagination.

20160804_031053.png

20160804_031109.png
Took a bit of a break while drawing this page and saw Telepurte's post. Decided to draw him a little bit of encouragement xD the foreshortening didnt turn out exactly how i wanted it and also his body could be rotated much better than it is.

20160804_031120.png
tried to draw a guy holding himself to a wall, turned out kinda stiff and I think its because of the arm that he is holding wall with. The guy on the right isnt too bad, im actually quite happy that I got the gesture that I wanted :D

OPERATION BLUE INK UPDATE # 6

Update time! Alright so i actually quite liked today! Did some good drawings and went out of my comfort zone too! I learned something and I actually think i did well, not amazing but i made progress xD So today its pretty much 90% just women, so yay for that, not just men anymore. Starting to understand hips and breasts, of course i still need to work hard and keep at it since I've got a long way to go until i can create the images i want.

All feedback is majorly appreciated on these, and all criticism is more than welcome!

20160805_023550.png
warm up, so just some comfort zone stuff

20160805_023611.png
ok starting to do some studying and going outside my comfort zone

20160805_023626.png

20160805_023634.png
Breast practice, a lot of them need a lot of work, like for example drawing smaller breasts.

20160805_023645.png
Still need to practice drawing butts and also I still seem to need a lot of practice in connecting the breasts to the armpit and deltoid.

OPERATION BLUE INK UPDATE # 7

Alright, 3 pages today, pretty much the same as yesterday and just trying to become even more comfortable with females and general other angles. Some stuff today was from imagination and reference. Speaking of which, I actually wanted to share an amazing website I use for reference.

http://www.posemaniacs.com/

They are pretty much 3D anatomical models that you are able to rotate quite easily, so they are great for anatomy studies. The poses are also extremely extensive. They have both male and female and even a child 3D model.

Anyway to the drawings from today!

20160806_021939.png
warm up

OPERATION BLUE INK UPDATE # 8

Huh didn't even notice i was on a new page till just now, thats cool...and...so...new...whooooaaaa. Alright, HOLY SHIT TODAY WAS A DISTRACTION. But it was a productive distraction. I literally binge watched the entirety of Fate/Stay Night Unlimited BladeWorks....and I only finished it like....not even a min ago but here I am! First of all...damn the animation and visuals in that damn anime, I'm most likely going to be youtube-ing the fight scenes for reference for my own drawings since damn the angles and poses and holy shit the fighting was well done. So today was almost mindless...sketching while watching the show so yeah no real objective today as I was just engrossed on this thing....I really should have made it a 2 day binge....yeah ima be tired tomorrow but meh, twas worth it.

TO THE DRAWINGS, btw all of these are from imagination. So kinda proud of some of them...kinda but not really, you know what i mean.

OPERATION BLUE INK UPDATE # 9

Alright time to update! So today was interesting, for some reason i kinda went backwards, I started with imagination stuff then at the end I did gesture stuff. So yeah that was interesting. I did some expressions since ik i need to practice those, the practice today also reinforced the need for me to practice more and more expressions and faces.

imagination stuff, practicing breasts and more of the 3/4 angle. Also some hands in there.

Yay expressions, well more like parts of the face without actual heads. I think i learned something from this though I will most likely look at Telepurte's tutorial on expressions again :/

Well...yeah ik i missed like two days. I wish there was a reason, but there really isnt. Damn. But hey i still drew around the same I just didnt post it. But ill try to keep posting from now on. So yeah I guess today will be a double post? I've drawn 8 pages in the last 2 days, I dont feel too happy with most of them since I feel like my figures are getting somewhat stiff. In the last 2 or 3 pages I tried to take my time a bit with each figure to see how it would turn out, not bad but not great. Id say that the last page is the best for the sole reason that the poses actually have some energy in them and they feel more alive than the others.

All the drawings here are from imagination.

Tried more expressions, I still need to practice them more

yeah this is the page where i feel things are getting more stiff

Dont really remember how long i took on each one, but id say they go up to...idk...5-7 mins?

Some of the poses here actually took less time than the ones from the last page, but i feel like some of these are better.

I like figures from the last update :) It's good that you're doing some from imagination.
If you think that they're getting too stiff I'd recommend you doing gesture drawings!
...and if your gesture drawings looks bad just do a lot more
I like to draw girls. If you like girls too, you should check my Sketchbook ^^
There's stuff on my Twitter and Instagram too.
I do streams sometimes, mostly weekends on my Picarto channel.
